2016 was the Launch of Geelong Basket Brigade and we joined forces to help raise food and toys for Melbourne Basket Brigade, who were able to feed 500 families including donating 75 hampers to facilitate the launch of Geelong Basket Brigade, along with a heap of donations of additional food and toys that was donated that did not go into the hampers we were able to divide them up and spread them amongst local charities to help the families in the Geelong and Bellerine Peninsula that are doing it tough at Christmas and need a hand up not a hand out.
At Christmas time its really nice to know that strangers care especially when you are struggling. All of our hampers are delivered anonymously and the receiving family gets a hamper of food and toys at Christmas with a note saying they are loved and cared about which is all everyone wants to know at Christmas.
Volunteer Registration is 10am, we usually only take a couple of hours to wrap and pack so we are aiming to start loading vehicles between 2.00 & 3.00pm.
Please note re-deliveries:
We will not be able to load cars prior to 2.00pm as all deliveries need to be allocated before we start sending cars out to make sure no baskets are missed out or left behind. Please keep this in mind when completing your survey, thank you.
Who can join?
You, your friends, family, work mates and children are all welcome. The more the merrier we just need to know who is coming so register everyone.
How to join?
An online registration form will be made available in October. Everybody is welcome, you can come and pack baskets, wrap toys and deliver the baskets too – it’s really up to you. You tell us what you want to do in the registration survey so let us know . If you are an experienced Packing Day volunteer and would like to be on crew then please email Stephanie at [email protected] let us know. So if you want to make a real difference at a grass roots level to families in need at Christmas time, come join us!
What to Bring?
Comfortable shoes and clothes to pack and deliver in, Christmas Cheers, Big Smiles, Crazy Christmas Hats, Water, Snacks and donations are still welcome on the day (Cash, Chq, Card, Non Perishable Food & Toys).
You will also be emailed an indemnity form the weekend before the Packing Day, please complete and bring this with you for all adults attending. You can complete on the day however if you bring all pages completed with you on the day you get to come through the Express Registration queue – whooo hooo!!!!
