Perth Grandies

Perth Grandies is most excited about starting its inaugural year in 2014 and its Perth co-ordinator is Belinda Marshall. Our first event will be officially launched on 4th August 2014 and is aimed at providing 36 Christmas hampers and other wishlist items for the 36 over- 50 female residents of St Bartholomew’s Kensington Street facility. The facility provides accommodation previously not available to homeless women in inner city Perth. We look forward to a succesfull start to the Perth Grandies program and hope that through the support of volunteers and donors, we will be able to expand our Perth Grandies gifting program to other similar organisations.

Perth Grandies serves the Western Suburbs, such as Claremont, Cottlesloe, Dalkeith, Floreat, Leederville, Mosman Park, Mount Claremont, Nedlands, Wembley, Shenton Park, City Beach, and Fremantle.

How It Works

Making wishes come true is not as easy as blowing out a bunch of candles and wishing on a falling star. It takes the collective effort of a network of volunteers willing to give up a portion of their time to help others in need. In fact, a lot goes on behind the scenes prior to granting a wish.

  • First, participating nursing homes, Aged Care facilities, Men’s and Women’s Shelters, send MMF a list of their residents who need extra support and special attention. In addition they might send us a list of items they may be in need of. Our volunteers adopt these Grandies, buying the items on their wishlists.
  • Through the generous donations of organisations, businesses and individuals, our volunteers are able to either purchase or collect these gifts and then personally deliver them to our Grandies in their nursing homes, aged care facilities, etc. on behalf of the program and the Foundation.
  • Our Mission is to never allow a wish to go unfulfilled.

FAQ

You sure can. In fact, we encourage it. Just let us know in your email that you wish to adopt more than one Grandy.
Yes, or a group of friends or family can help to buy the gifts for your adopted Grandy. You can even ask local businesses or shops to donate the wish list item/s. Please let us know if you are unable to purchase any of the items as we need to ensure that all wish lists are fulfilled.
Not to worry, you can always get a gift card/voucher for the approximate amount of what the wish list item costs if you are unable to find the exact item. Your adopted Grandy would appreciate the opportunity to go shopping.
Please drop off your completed wish list for your adopted Grandy before the appointed time at the location set by the coordinator in your area.
Yes, once you adopt a Grandy, you will have received instructions on how to submit your receipts in the email confirmation.
Great! If you are a non-profit organisation and believe that your clients can benefit from receiving a wish list of items, please get in contact with us.

How Else You Can Help

Truly, we cannot do it on our own. We need your help. Adopt one or more Grandies today by sending an email to the coordinator of the chapter nearest you. We will send you an updated list, and you just have to reply with the top three Grandies you would like to adopt.

Then again, if you are too busy to go out and buy these things on your own, you can still help make the wishes of these Grandies come true by clicking on the Donate Now button below. Please also help spread the word by liking our Facebook page, or by telling your friends or family about the program.
