SA – Adelaide Basket Brigade

A tax deductible contribution will go a long way to help us make this year’s brigade a success.

We really appreciate the help. So many smiles!!!

Packing Day – 17th December 2016

Packing Day registrations are now open. Simply click on the button below to register and get all the updates, between now and the 17th of December.

The packing day will be held at the Festival Function Centre, Findon.

The brigade is 100% run by volunteers, there are many ways you can help:

  • Donate: cash donations are used to buy products and pay for expenses, such as forklifts and trash bins for packing day. Cash donations above $2 are tax deductible.

  • Fundraising: ask your family and friends to support us, or have a basket drive at your kids school or your work. Gold coin donation drives are usually very successful. We appreciate every little bit of help.

  • Set up a Donation Station: set up one at your workplace and ask your family and friends to do the same. Send us an email and we will help you get it all organised.

  • Get your workmates together: Get a Corporate Team together for pre-Packing Day prep week. It’s a great team bonding activity! Corporate teams help to sort donations, decorate/paint hamper boxes, wrap gifts and write Christmas cards.

  • Volunteer for packing day: Watch the sidebar video and see how it works. It’s a wonderful day of community spirit. Everybody is welcome, so if you want to make a real difference at a grass roots level to families in need at Christmas time, come join us!

How It Works

This program is built on the simple notion
that one small act of generosity on the
part of one caring person can transform
the lives of hundreds.

The volunteers collect generous
donations in the form of money,
food, clothes, toys, books, etc.

Throughout the year volunteers actively
promote the program and find out who in
our community is in most need of support.

Give Now

The Call
Save the Dates are sent out to
notify volunteers a month before
packing day.

Packing Day
Hundreds of volunteers gather in church,
school and community halls to fill baskets
with teachers and teens.

Gifting Day
The baskets are delivered to the
families to bring joy and happiness
to their lives at Christmas.

A: The Basket Brigades work with local grass roots community groups and organisations that work with the families in need. By connecting with these groups we are able to help them provide much needed services that they would otherwise struggle to provide. We are also able to identify the people most worthy of the donations.
A: We deliver baskets to wherever they are needed.
A: We are a not for profit organisation that is run totally by volunteers who care about making a difference in the lives of others. The only administrative fees we have are some basic postage costs and our insurances. So approximately 98-99% of the funds raised are used on the projects, programs and people in the community. Where possible all our brochures and marketing materials are donated by generous businesses who are keen supporters of the Basket Brigade. If you have a business and would like to support us give us a call or drop us an email – we would love to hear from you.
A: The Basket Brigades listed on this website are a program of the Magic Moments Foundation of Australia which is a registered non-profit charity. Any donation over $2 will receive a tax deductible receipt which you can then use to claim as a tax deduction.
A: The baskets consist of staple foods, festive foods and items as well as toys for the children of the families. Pasta, rice, tinned and fresh foods accompany Christmas cakes, tinned ham, custard and jelly. The idea is to provide yummy things to make a festive Christmas Day and staple items for the days before and after. We also often provide hampers with slight variations for families who may have dietary or religious restrictions around particular foods if we are made aware of this.
A: The baskets are given anonymously – in the true spirit of Christmas these baskets are a gift to show that there are people who love and care for them even if they never find out who these people are. A small note is included in the parcel that lets them know that this is a gift from someone that cares and encourages them to do the same when the day comes that they are able to.

We change people’s
lives one basket at a time.
